Running Through Life

I’ve been running a lot lately and doing some races. I used to run competitively, but I found that I enjoy it more just doing recreationally and entering the races just for fun. Plus, I don’t have to stress about my time and get to run at my own comfortable pace. I just did a race that was actually 3 different races within 24 hours and I’m glad I did it. It was 4 miles, a 5K, and a 1 mile.

It’s actually really inspiring seeing so many different people racing. There was even a 86 year old man who I see a lot who runs at every race. He wears a helmet, elbow and knee pads, and really books it with his cane. That shows true determination. And in the last race, I saw him get taken away on a stretcher after he finished (I think he got heat exhaustion) but he waved proudly as he was going into the ambulance and everyone was cheering for him. I just love the community there and I got to meet other people there as well that I never would have met if it weren’t for the race. Everyone’s cheering each other on no matter if you’re the first person to cross that finish line or the last.

Anyway, I was thinking… Life can be compared to a race. It may be super hard to reach your goals sometimes and you may be faced with obstacles that make it harder (thanks Florida heat…), but as long as you put one foot in front of the other, you will eventually get there. Yeah, some goals may take longer than others, but little by little, you will get closer and closer to that finish line. Timing doesn’t matter. If you try to go too fast at the beginning, you’ll use up all your energy that you need for later. Just relax and go at your own pace. You’ll get there, don’t worry. Remember, people are cheering for you💕
